Pexels Stock Photos Integration

Connect your own Pexels API key so agents can find professional stock photos for documents, presentations, emails and posts. An agent describes the picture it needs and gets back a stored copy of the best match with the photographer's credit.

Before you start

  • A Pexels API key. Keys are free. Sign in at pexels.com/api, request a key and copy it. Each organisation in Outermind uses its own key.
  • A tenant admin in Outermind with permission to manage connections.

Pexels limits how many requests each key can make; a new key's default allowance is set by Pexels and shown in your Pexels account. When the limit is reached, searches fail until it resets, and the agent is told so. If your agents need more, ask Pexels to raise the limit on your key.

Connect in Outermind

  1. Open the Capabilities hub, go to Connections, and open Pexels. The page is at /capabilities/integrations/pexels; the form is on the same page.
  2. Under Connect Pexels, paste the key and submit.
  3. Outermind checks the key with Pexels before saving it, and stores it encrypted.
  4. Grant the Pexels tool to each agent that needs it from the agent's Tools tab (Workforce > Agents > Agents & SMEs).

What your agents can do

ToolActionClassTierWhat it does
pexels_photossearchreadreadFinds the best Pexels photo for a description and stores a copy

The agent can ask for an orientation (landscape, portrait, square or any) and a size (small, medium or large, with large the default). The search returns:

  • an asset id, which the agent uses to attach or embed the photo;
  • an in-app link to the stored copy; and
  • attribution text naming the photographer, to show alongside the photo.

The photo is downloaded once and stored in your organisation's own asset store, so it keeps working even if the original is later removed from Pexels. Agents send a photo by its asset id, never by pasting a Pexels link.

Safety

  • Search only. The tool reads the Pexels library and stores a copy in your own asset store. It cannot upload to, change or delete anything at Pexels.
  • Credit the photographer. Pexels photos are free to use, and Pexels asks that you credit the photographer and Pexels where you can. The attribution text is there so agents and your team can do that.
  • Your key, your usage. Searches count against your organisation's Pexels key only.

Testing, updating and disconnecting

  • Test Connection checks the stored key without you entering it again.
  • Update API Key replaces the stored key, for example after you rotate it in Pexels.
  • Disconnect Pexels removes the connection and unassigns the Pexels tool from every agent. Photos already stored stay in your asset store.
