Stable Virtual Mailbox Integration
Connect your Stable virtual mailbox so agents can see the physical mail your business receives: who sent each letter or package, who it is addressed to, its scans and OCR text, and any checks enclosed. Every Stable tool is read-only. Agents cannot forward, deposit, shred or otherwise act on mail.
Before you start
- A Stable account on the Scale plan. Stable's API, and so this integration, needs Stable's Scale plan. If your account is on another plan, ask Stable about upgrading before you connect.
- A Stable API key. Contact priority@useStable.com to obtain one for your account. Stable may also let you create one in its dashboard under Settings > API keys.
- A tenant admin in Outermind with permission to manage connections.
The key gives read access to every location and mail item in your Stable account, so treat it like a password and paste it only into Outermind.
Connect in Outermind
- Open the Capabilities hub, go to Connections, and open Stable. The page is at
/capabilities/integrations/stable;/capabilities/integrations/stable/setupopens the same page. - Under Connect Stable, paste the key into API Key and click Connect Stable.
- Outermind checks the key with Stable before saving it, and stores it encrypted.
- Grant the Stable tools to each agent that needs them from the agent's Tools tab (Workforce > Agents > Agents & SMEs).
What your agents can do
Every action below is class read and tier read, so it runs without asking a person at every autonomy level.

Safety
- Read-only. No Stable tool has a write, delete or admin action, so agents can read mail but never forward, deposit or shred it.
- Mail can be sensitive. Scans and OCR text can contain personal and financial details. Grant the Stable tools only to agents that need them.
Testing, rotating and disconnecting
- Test Connection checks that Stable still accepts the key. A key Stable refuses is reported on each agent call as well, so a revoked key never fails silently.
- To change the key, disconnect and connect again with the new key. Stable has no in-place update.
- Disconnect Stable removes the connection and its stored key, and unassigns the Stable tools from every agent.
