Meta Ads
Connecting Meta's Ads MCP server lets your agents manage and report on your Meta advertising: campaigns, ad sets, ads and creatives, audiences, insights, catalogs, pixels, A/B tests and Instagram boosts. The server offers about 91 tools. Meta's Ads MCP server is in open beta.
Read How MCP Servers Work in Outermind first if you have not connected an MCP server before.
Before you start
- A Meta Business account with advertiser access to the ad account agents should work in. The connection acts as the person who signs in, so agents can do what that person's access to the ad account allows.
- A tenant admin in Outermind to run the wizard and grant the tools.
Prepare Meta
Nothing to register. Outermind signs in with its own Meta app, so you do not create an app or change any settings at Meta. Make sure the person who will sign in has advertiser access to the ad account.
Connect in Outermind
- Open the Capabilities hub, click MCP Servers under Tool Management, and click Add MCP server.
- Under Known server, pick Meta Ads (mcp.facebook.com). The endpoint
https://mcp.facebook.com/adsis filled in, the wizard shows "Sign in with a Business account that has advertiser access to the ad account." and the expected sign-in is OAuth sign-in. Optionally edit Purpose, the one-line description agents see beside this server. Click Next. - On Credential, the wizard says "Outermind signs in with its own application registered with this provider." Click Connect, sign in with Facebook Login for Business, and approve.
- On Summary, Outermind discovers Meta's tools and makes them active. Under Grant tools to agents, pick an agent to choose an access level for each one; to leave a tool out, use the connection page afterwards.
What your agents can do
Agents can:
- create, update and manage campaigns, ad sets, ads and creatives;
- turn ads and campaigns on, using Meta's
ads_activate_entitytool; - build and manage audiences;
- read performance insights;
- work with catalogs and pixels;
- run A/B tests;
- boost Instagram posts.
Read actions start at tier low, and every other action starts at high; see
Risk tiers.
Outermind's earlier built-in Meta Ads integration had its own budget cap, autonomy switch and approval queue.
Meta's MCP server has none of these: when an agent asks it to raise a budget or activate a campaign, it does.
The risk tier is now the only guard, so keep every action that spends money, activates an ad or changes a budget
at tier high.
What is not available
- Every tool of the earlier integration is available, but its budget cap, autonomy switch and approval queue have no equivalent at Meta; see the warning above.
- Organic posting. The server covers advertising only. It does not publish organic Facebook Page or Instagram posts.
Billing notes
Outermind knows of no separate Meta charge for using the MCP server. Ad spend that agents create or change is billed by Meta to the ad account as usual.
