Zoom
Connecting Zoom's MCP server lets your agents schedule and manage your Zoom meetings, control a meeting in progress, and search your recordings, transcripts and meeting summaries. The known server is Zoom's all-in-one server, which offers 20 tools and also covers Zoom Docs, Hub, Canvas and My Notes.
Read How MCP Servers Work in Outermind first if you have not connected an MCP server before.
Before you start
- A paid Zoom plan with AI Companion. See Billing notes.
- A Zoom user to sign in as. The connection acts as the Zoom user who signs in, at user level: agents reach that user's meetings, recordings and content, not every user in your Zoom account.
- A tenant admin in Outermind to run the wizard and grant the tools.
Prepare Zoom
Nothing to register. Outermind signs in with its own Zoom app, so you do not create an app at Zoom. Make sure the person who will sign in has AI Companion on their Zoom account.
Connect in Outermind
- Open the Capabilities hub, click MCP Servers under Tool Management, and click Add MCP server.
- Under Known server, pick Zoom (mcp.zoom.us). The endpoint
https://mcp.zoom.us/mcp/zoom/streamableis filled in, the wizard shows "Sign in with a paid Zoom account that has AI Companion and approve." and the expected sign-in is OAuth sign-in. Optionally edit Purpose, the one-line description agents see beside this server. Click Next. - On Credential, the wizard says "Outermind signs in with its own application registered with this provider." Click Connect, sign in to Zoom as the user the connection should act as, and approve.
- On Summary, Outermind discovers Zoom's tools and makes them active. Under Grant tools to agents, pick an agent to choose an access level for each one; to leave a tool out, use the connection page afterwards.
Zoom also runs a meetings-only server with 8 tools at https://mcp.zoom.us/mcp/meeting/streamable. To connect
it instead, choose Other endpoint and type that address. Zoom's chat and admin MCP servers are separate
servers and are not covered by this guide.
Keeping the connection signed in
Outermind refreshes Zoom's sign-in automatically. If Zoom stops accepting it, the connection shows Needs reauth; click Reconnect on the connection page and sign in again.
Disconnect or remove the app
- Disconnect in Outermind. Open the connection's page and click Disconnect. Its tools leave every agent they were granted to, and the stored Zoom sign-in is deleted.
- Remove the app from Zoom. In the Zoom App Marketplace, go to Manage > Added Apps, find Outermind and click Remove. Outermind does not receive a notice when you do this (see What is not available); the connection shows Needs reauth the next time an agent tries to use it.
- Zoom data an agent already used, such as a recording link, transcript text or meeting summary, is handled under Outermind's Privacy Policy.
What your agents can do
Agents can:
- schedule, change and delete meetings (
meeting_create,meeting_update,meeting_delete); - control a meeting that is in progress (
in_meeting_control); - search recordings, transcripts and meeting summaries;
- search and ask questions across your Zoom content with Zoom's own AI (
searchandask); - work with Zoom Docs, Hub, Canvas and My Notes.
Recordings stay in Zoom: Outermind does not copy them into its own storage. See Files stay at the vendor.
Read actions start at tier low, and every other action starts at high; see
Risk tiers.
meeting_delete cancels a meeting for everyone invited, and in_meeting_control acts on a live meeting while
people are in it. Keep both at tier high.
What is not available
This server covers less than Outermind's earlier built-in Zoom integration did. Agents cannot use:
- Registrants. Agents cannot list, add, approve, deny or remove the people registered for a meeting.
- Attendance, polls, Q&A. Agents cannot read who attended a past meeting, or its poll and Q&A results.
- Get meeting by ID, host meeting list, recurring instances. Agents cannot look up a meeting directly by its ID, list all of a host's meetings, or list the past occurrences of a recurring meeting.
- Account-wide admin scope. The earlier integration was granted by a Zoom account admin and reached every user on the account. This connection reaches only the meetings and content of the Zoom user who signs in.
- Staging recordings into our storage. The earlier integration could copy a recording, transcript or summary into Outermind's own storage. They now stay in Zoom, and agents work with them there.
- Webhooks. Outermind no longer receives event notifications from Zoom, such as a changed meeting, a new recording or the app being removed. Agents see the current state at Zoom only when they ask the server.
Billing notes
Zoom's MCP server needs a paid Zoom plan with AI Companion. On a free plan the connection still completes and Outermind still discovers and activates the tools, because Zoom lists them whatever the plan, but the tools do not return real data until the user who signed in has a paid plan with AI Companion. Outermind knows of no separate Zoom charge for using the MCP server, and calls are not charged per call the way Zapier counts tasks.
