Pax8

Connecting Pax8's MCP server lets your agents look up your Pax8 marketplace data: companies, products and pricing, subscriptions, orders, invoices, usage and quotes. The server offers 15 tools, and every one of them reads; none of them changes anything at Pax8.

Read How MCP Servers Work in Outermind first if you have not connected an MCP server before.

Partner tool. Pax8 is only available to a tenant that is also an Outermind partner, on Workforce plan and up. Its card on the Connections page carries a Partner tool badge, and the wizard refuses to connect it for a tenant that is not an active partner (including a partner whose billing is suspended).

Before you start

  • A Pax8 partner account with Integrations Hub access. The connection acts as the Pax8 user who signs in, so agents can read what that user can read.
  • A tenant admin in Outermind to run the wizard and grant the tools.

Pax8 connects with an OAuth sign-in only. Pax8 also issues a static MCP token, but Pax8 expects that token in a request header of its own rather than as a bearer token, so Outermind cannot use it.

Prepare Pax8

Nothing to prepare. Outermind registers itself with Pax8 automatically when you connect. Make sure the person who will sign in has Integrations Hub access in your Pax8 partner account.

Connect in Outermind

  1. Open the Capabilities hub, click MCP Servers under Tool Management, and click Add MCP server.
  2. Under Known server, pick Pax8 (mcp.pax8.com). The endpoint https://mcp.pax8.com/v1/mcp is filled in, the wizard shows "Sign in with a Pax8 partner account that has Integrations Hub access and approve." and the expected sign-in is OAuth sign-in. Optionally edit Purpose, the one-line description agents see beside this server. Click Next.
  3. On Credential, the wizard says "Outermind registers itself with this server automatically when you connect." Click Connect, sign in to Pax8 and approve. Pax8 asks you to approve its Manage:Pax8Data permission.
  4. On Summary, Outermind discovers Pax8's tools and makes them active. Under Grant tools to agents, pick an agent to choose an access level for each one; to leave a tool out, use the connection page afterwards.

What your agents can do

Agents can list and look up:

  • companies;
  • products and their pricing;
  • subscriptions;
  • orders;
  • invoices;
  • usage;
  • quotes.

Read actions start at tier low, and every other action starts at high; see Risk tiers. Outermind classes a tool as read only when both the server's description of the tool and the tool's name say it reads, so check the Class column on the connection page.

What is not available

This server covers less than Outermind's earlier built-in Pax8 integration did. Agents cannot use:

  • Company contacts. Agents cannot list the contacts held on a Pax8 company.
  • Subscription change history. Agents can read a subscription as it is now, but not the history of changes to it.
  • Invoice line items. Agents can read an invoice, but not the line items that make up the bill.
  • Draft invoice items. Agents cannot read the upcoming charges that Pax8 has not invoiced yet.
  • Product dependencies. Agents cannot check which other products or commitments a product requires.
  • Azure Plan composite. The earlier integration had one tool that found a company's Azure Plan subscriptions and then read their usage summaries and usage lines; the MCP server has no equivalent.

Billing notes

Outermind knows of no separate Pax8 charge for using the MCP server. Unlike Zapier, Pax8 does not count each call an agent makes against a usage allowance.
