Ramp

Connecting Ramp's MCP server lets your agents work with your Ramp finance operations: transactions, cards, reimbursements, bills, procurement, treasury, travel and spend analytics. The server offers about 130 tools, including actions that change things, such as approving a transaction or changing a card limit.

Read How MCP Servers Work in Outermind first if you have not connected an MCP server before.

Before you start

  • A Ramp account. The connection is user-delegated: it acts as the Ramp user who signs in, and an agent can do only what that user's Ramp role allows. Connect with a user whose role covers what you want agents to do, and no more.
  • A tenant admin in Outermind to run the wizard and grant the tools.

Prepare Ramp

Nothing to prepare. Outermind registers itself with Ramp automatically when you connect.

Connect in Outermind

  1. Open the Capabilities hub, click MCP Servers under Tool Management, and click Add MCP server.
  2. Under Known server, pick Ramp (mcp.ramp.com). The endpoint https://mcp.ramp.com/mcp is filled in, the wizard shows "Sign in and approve." and the expected sign-in is OAuth sign-in. Optionally edit Purpose, the one-line description agents see beside this server. Click Next.
  3. On Credential, the wizard says "Outermind registers itself with this server automatically when you connect." Click Connect, sign in to Ramp as the user the connection should act as, and approve.
  4. On Summary, Outermind discovers Ramp's tools and makes them active. Under Grant tools to agents, pick an agent to choose an access level for each one; to leave a tool out, use the connection page afterwards.
tip

Ramp also runs a demo server at https://demo-mcp.ramp.com/mcp. To connect it, choose Other endpoint and type that address.

What your agents can do

Depending on the signed-in user's Ramp role, agents can:

  • read and search transactions, cards, reimbursements and bills;
  • approve and split transactions, change card limits and handle reimbursements;
  • work with bills and procurement;
  • work with treasury and travel;
  • run SQL analytics queries over your Ramp data.

Read actions start at tier low, and every other action starts at high, so an action that approves, changes or moves money waits for approval unless the agent's autonomy level lets it run high actions. Keep those actions at high; see Risk tiers.

What is not available

Nothing that Outermind's earlier built-in Ramp integration offered is missing; the MCP server covers all of it and adds more.

Billing notes

Outermind knows of no separate Ramp charge for using the MCP server. Check your Ramp agreement if you are unsure.
